The main objective when styling your hair if you have a heart shaped face is to draw attention to your eyes and cheekbones. Longer bangs and mid-length layers move the focus away from the chin. This shape looks good with chin-length or longer hairstyles. Wearing a side-part, layers around the face, or wispy bangs is also a good look. Avoid hairstyles that put too much height at the crown or really short hairstyles that are too full.

A rectangle shape is long and slender. Generally short to medium hairstyles work the best. Although, as you can see with Gwyneth, a very long and straight style looks great on her. This is due to the fact that she doesn’t have a very full and thick full head of head. Her hair is fine and wispy, helping to soften the look of her features. Wispy bangs look good with this shape, as does wearing it wavy or curly off of the face. Try to avoid too much height when wearing hair in an updo.
